Low dose aspirin helps thin the blood and helps to lower the risk of heart attack or stroke.

Uncoated aspirin starts to break down in the stomach and may cause irritation to the stomach lining.

Cartia® has a Duentric® coating – which is designed to prevent the aspirin from being released in the stomach.

With this Duentric® coating, Cartia® remains intact until it reaches your upper intestine. By releasing the aspirin in the intestine, it helps to minimise stomach irritation caused by the aspirin.

Duentric® Coating

Why is the Cartia® Duentric® coating so important?

Aspirin that is uncoated starts to dissolve in the stomach and may cause irritation to the stomach lining. Cartia® has a special Duentric® coating designed to prevent the aspirin from being broken down in the stomach. It is released lower down in the intestines, helping to protect the stomach from irritation that can be caused by aspirin.

Importantly, this coating does not reduce the effectiveness of the aspirin.

If you are at risk of having a heart attack or stroke, speak to your doctor about how Cartia® can help as part of an overall management plan to reduce your risk of heart attack or stroke.

To help reduce the risk of a heart attack or stroke, it is recommended to take Cartia® every day. Cartia® is available in packs of 28, and 84 tablets. Cartia® contains 100mg aspirin.

The tablet cards are conveniently marked with a daily calendar to help you keep track of your daily dose.

It is recommended that you take just one Cartia® tablet at the same time every day.

How to take Cartia®

Do not break, crush or chew the tablet. Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not double up if you happen to miss a dose.

And of course, always talk to your doctor first before using Cartia® as part of an overall management plan to help reduce your risk of heart attack or stroke.
